In coaching soccer drills, there’s no doubt that perhaps the most complex part is that of finding out the most appropriate method of managing the conditioning schedules of the players. There is a reason why I’m saying this and it’s because the thin line between educating and coaching the players has somehow vanished.
I’m sorry to say that even today, there are many coaches who fail to recognize the importance of designing player specific coaching plans in teaching soccer. The players must be taught about the game as a person along with their professional conditioning and training. Many a times, this educational characteristic of soccer gets totally neglected in almost all scenarios.
Still, we must not forget one theory on which the coaching drills for the layers should be based. A player should first grow as an individual before he grows and becomes a prominent soccer player of great repute. The coach must therefore base his strategy on the above stated principle.
If we try to figure out something that cheers a former player to become a coach is pretty easy. After the player is no more a part of the team, he wishes to continue being associated with soccer. This is what makes some successful players take a plunge and become kid’s coaches. But they don’t truly recognize the seriousness that this role calls for.
Some of them take this as an opportunity to get into the field of coaching and training adult players. Some others decide to take up this role due to their love towards the sport and an intention to instill the same passion in the kids. Both are compelling and very well acceptable reasons. But it’s not only these duties but additional principles too that need to be taken into consideration.
Communication is the main feature with respect to coaching soccer drills, and unfortunately it’s the trickiest for a majority of people to understand. The fact that someone has been a successful soccer player for a long time and has countless achievements does not hold well when it comes to being a successful coach.
To become a youth soccer coach, the goals that one needs to set for himself are well defined. Being a competent and skillful coach requires helping young players to love soccer and consider it as a positive and an exciting experience in their lives. During the soccer practice, a coach should ensure that the players can openly convey their feelings through the game.
In a team, different players have their different styles of playing and a varying potential. What’s not important is that every player must possess the competence and talents of a great player. What is actually important is that each player ultimately reaches his own potential.
The fact that every successful, skilled, and competent player does not necessarily make a talented youth coach must be understood. A special ability to work with kids is of paramount importance; an inborn gift to make contact with people and nurturing relationships.
Some food for thought; you should seriously consider what truly motivates you as it is a major requirement in this context.

I was sitting at my desk last Monday morning reflecting on the all of the amazing stories and activities from my “GOS” weekend at the Kierland Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. Ironically, I had just finished reading Michael’s latest blog reflecting the highlights of the 2009 Galaxy of Stars when my cell phone rang. I listened; said “thank you very much,” and then the magnitude of the call hit me like a ton of bricks. I had just been given the awesome privilege of writing Michael’s blog for Monday, October 12, 2009. I was honored beyond measure and absolutely thrilled to say the least.
I strongly agree with the scripture Luke 12:48: “To whom much is given, from him much will be required,” so naturally I want to be a good steward of Michael’s trust by selecting a topic that would have the most impact on loyal Affiliates like you who read Michael’s Blog every week. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my thoughts about the tremendous impact the 2009 Galaxy of Stars is having on our Affiliate community, including the details regarding the “transformation” of our newest Presidential Director Cody Ramsey and his new passion for helping others experience wellness with Nopalea.
